What DC’s iGaming hearing does and does not show
The Office of Lottery and Gaming’s May 2026 testimony on B26-0656 concerns proposed internet gaming legislation. It is evidence of a legislative discussion, not by itself proof that an online casino market has launched or that a particular sweepstakes product is approved.
In that testimony, the lottery director described unlicensed sweepstakes sites as operating in a gray area because District law did not then specify what sweepstakes were. That is a dated account of the agency’s position, not a current approval of any operator.
Use the Council’s official B26-0656 record to investigate subsequent action. This guide does not infer a final legislative outcome from testimony or describe the proposal as an existing operator license. Online casino legislation and an individual promotional product’s terms answer different questions.
Living in DC and playing elsewhere
When comparing a review, check both permitted residence and permitted physical location. An account registered with a DC address may still have restrictions when you use it in another jurisdiction. Conversely, visiting the District does not automatically make you eligible for a product restricted where you live.
Before travelling, read the operator’s location rules and ask support how they apply to your account. Do not use a VPN, borrowed address or another person’s identity to bypass a restriction. Successful login is not confirmation that every form of participation or redemption is allowed.
Make the comparison at account level
Find the exact operator entity and domain in the terms. Then distinguish entertainment coins from any promotional currency and check the conditions for obtaining, using and redeeming the latter. Compare verification requirements, qualifying balance thresholds and support procedures before deciding whether an offer fits your needs.
Save the rules attached to a promotion rather than relying on a screenshot of its headline. If a restriction changes, retain the dated notice and ask about pending redemptions separately from future play. Our listings reflect recorded availability and publication policy. Neither those listings nor a legislative hearing should be read as DC approval of a particular casino-style promotion.
