Florida: what changed

  1. Florida's Attorney General sues two sweepstakes casino operators

Florida has no statute that names sweepstakes casinos, and 2026 bills to ban them outright did not pass. Florida's Attorney General takes the view that they are already illegal under the state's existing gambling laws. On August 19, 2026, the Attorney General filed two lawsuits in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against the operators of Stake and of VGW's Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker, and against payment processors that work with them. The complaints allege illegal online gambling and breaches of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, and ask the court for permanent injunctions that would bar the defendants from operating in Florida, along with restitution and civil penalties. These are allegations: the Attorney General's [news release](https://www.myfloridalegal.com/newsrelease/attorney-general-james-uthmeier-files-lawsuits-against-operators-illegal-online-casinos) reports the filings, not a court ruling.

Florida sweepstakes casinos: FAQ

Which sweepstakes casinos do you list for Florida?

We are not recommending sweepstakes casinos for Florida on this page while the state review is open. An operator accepting accounts does not resolve the state position or clear it for promotion here.

What is the sweepstakes casino legal position in Florida?

Florida has no statute that names sweepstakes casinos; 2026 bills (HB 189 and SB 1580) died. The Attorney General's position is that they are illegal under existing Florida gambling law, and in August 2026 the Attorney General sued the operators of Stake and of VGW's Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker.

Can I use a VPN to play from Florida?

No. Do not use a VPN, a different address, or other location masking to get around a state restriction. Eligibility must match the operator's rules for where you live and where you are playing.

How old do I need to be to play in Florida?

SweepstakesCasinos.com is for adults aged 21 and older. The sweepstakes eligibility baseline is 18+, or the higher age set by the operator or your state. Check the operator's current terms before registering. Meeting an age requirement does not remove a state restriction.
