Florida has no statute that names sweepstakes casinos, and 2026 bills to ban them outright did not pass. Florida's Attorney General takes the view that they are already illegal under the state's existing gambling laws. On August 19, 2026, the Attorney General filed two lawsuits in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against the operators of Stake and of VGW's Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker, and against payment processors that work with them. The complaints allege illegal online gambling and breaches of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, and ask the court for permanent injunctions that would bar the defendants from operating in Florida, along with restitution and civil penalties.
